GORILLA VIDEO | PHOTO BLOG | JILL BRADY AND PAUL StLAURENT

On a beautiful afternoon you can call it an early day OR you can exploit mother nature's nuture and take some musicians out of the studio and put them on a different stage...or dock.
With a humble performance in such a gorgeous setting, Jill Brady and Paul StLaurent took turns singing songs, plucking away at acoustics on a dock just on the Thames River in downtownLondon.
Both Jill and Paul's voices have an unique allure to them that makes the performance fun, and their chemistry illustrates the music's sincerity. Both can be found on myspace.com/ but check out the pics we got from our latest installment of Gorilla Video:

JOSH GEDDIS | E. BROOD OPENER

Josh Geddis opened for Elliott Brood last Thursday. I only caught the last half of the set, but to say the least it really set the mood for what was to come.
After importing their CD to my iTunes, I noticed it's listed under the 'Rock' genre, which doesn't really do it justice. However, neither does 'Country' or 'Rock-Country'. Oh, the days of cross genre breeding. I'm really not big on country or pop-country music itself, but I'm pretty open to some of its cousins. I'm also not good at describing music. You'll have to look them up.  (ah yes, indie/acoustic is more like it)
These guys had a great live sound that was easy on the ears, just as country-ish music can be when it's playing right in front of you on a twinkly stage over a few starter beers. Another good thing: They gave away their full-length 10 track CD Yellow Tent for FREE. Great way to get people to take it home for another listen.

Since I was there early and with a camera, I got a few courtesy practice shots in because opening bands need a little camera love too.

[I'm mighty proud of this one.]

ELLIOTT BROOD @ CTO

So, ELLIOTT BROOD made it back to London and played a show at CTO tonight. [SEE PHOTOS]

I didn't know much about this band going in to the show other than what I had worked on for Episode 1 but they certainly won me over. Their set was full of non stop energy I wasn't expecting; danceable energy [always a bonus]. I could barely keep up on the dance floor, and these guys were strumming and drumming their arms off with lights blazing on them for nearly two hours. Great performance. They even handed out pots and pans for the last few songs, for a little audience participation; with little dance space, what a productive way to burn some energy. For the first half they got everyone all pumped up, and then let them all bang it out. [yup]

I'm also surprised/kinda proud this band has 2 parts product of Windsor, ON, my own hometown. Though they didn't form the band until after the move to Toronto. Anyways, check out their album Mountain Meadows. Give it a full listen.

To see some of their live stuff, and interviews with the band, check out LC 03 01 "Give it a Full Listen"

Since tonight was a night for the team to relax and enjoy Elliott Brood, we didn't bring along any video cameras, but I did get some photographs for your viewing.

STREETERS | ON DA STREET WITH PAT

Today I met up with the boys shooting some streeters for the Censorship episode of London Calling. I got to photo document Pat, Josh and Drew stop a variety of people along Richmond Row and at Vic Park to ask them what album their favourite Full-Listen album is, and their favourite curse words.

[I still have a few things to learn about exposure and photo editing so bear with me.]

BRASSTRONAUT | MAR 11 | CTO

Just got back from the BRASSTRONAUT | YUKON BLOND show at CTO tonight. We got lots of great concert footage and interviews with the kind Vancouver lads from Brasstronaut.
They put on an awesome show and even had a couple 'biggest fan' hecklers...but more of that later. | The video segment is coming soon, but just to tide you over, here's a little snapshot preview!
